Artist of the Day: Arwen de Lyon

Today's artist of the day is Arwen de Lyon

Where can we find your art?

Tell us something about you. We want to know the person behind the artist.
I was born in San Diego, CA, but grew up in North Carolina. If that wasn't enough, both my mom and my stepdad are originally from NY, though they met in NC. Creating is my passion. I love Sailor Moon and Harry Potter. I love being different, and I love girl hero stories.

Do you have any favorite quotes? If so, what are they?
"Do what you can, where you can, with what you have." I believe that was Teddy Roosevelt.

What are your favorite 3 memories, either as a child or as an adult.
Heading west in the cross-country plane THROUGH the sunset.
My personal vacation to Palm Springs, CA.
Seeing "Les Miserables" on NY broadway.

What do you want people to remember you by when you die?
That I was lovely, talented, wise and wonderful, and above all was someone whom others could learn from.

Today's artist of the day is Jennifer Reese

Where is your art located?

Tell us something about you.
I'm originally from Ohio, but I moved down to the Carolinas in 2005 and love living close enough to the coast that we can visit a few times a year. I'm a homemaker/Mom and love being able to stay at home with my little Angel! I have a wonderful husband, daughter and two cats who don't get along. Stinkers. lol

Do you have any favorite quotes?
"It's never too late to become what you might have been."
"Eat, drink and be merry, for tommorow you do something else!"

Fondest memories?
When I was a kid we would run through my Grandparents backyard and swim in their pond.
In Oct. of 2003 when my Husband and I were married.
In Dec. of 2011 when my daughter was born.

How do you want people to remember you?
When I die I would like to be remembered as a creative, caring and fun person.

Art Around Los Angeles, CA

Images of the Artist

November 15, 2011–February 12, 2012 at the Getty Center

Investigating issues of artistic identity and image-making, this exhibition looks at some of the ways in which artists have represented themselves, their fellow artists, their activity, or their surroundings over the past five centuries. Images of the Artist presents varied media: mostly drawings, but also prints, photographs, paintings, and sculptures from the Getty's collections, complemented by loans from local institutions and private collectors.

Artist of the Day: Deborah Miller

Today's artist of the day is Deborah Miller

Where can we find your art?

Tell us something about you. We want to know the person behind the artist.
I grew up a barefoot farm girl a bit north of Lawrence, KS (home of the KU Jayhawks! Rock chalk!). I started out drawing cards for my mother which led me to majoring in Commercial Art. Now I'm a Zazzler!

Do you have any favorite quotes?
My personal favorite I made up years ago, "I don't know what happened but it snowballed into something ugly."

Happiest memories?
Running freely around 40 acres of woods and farm land, riding and pretending our milk cow, Cissy, was a horse, and lastly waking Christmas morning to see what Santa brought.

How would you like to be remembered?
That I'm - along with my oldest brother - proof that if you want it and you put hard work into obtaining it, it will come and you'll be a success to any degree you wish.

Artist of the Day: Elaine Hillson

Today's artist of the day is:  Elaine Hillson

Where can we find your art Elaine?

Tell us something about you.
I currently live in Lampeter, West Wales, UK in the middle of the countryside. I love the peace and quiet of the area and as a student of animal behaviour I spend a fair amount of my time training llamas, dogs and cats. I am however first and foremost an artist and winter is my favourite time of year for photography.

Do you have any favorite quotes?
"If you're not in it, you can't win it"

Fondest memories?
Finally picking up enough courage to face my fear of heights so that I could look out over the landscape from the top of the Bavarian Alps,  the first time I took a llama for a walk through the countryside and fully appreciated the gentleness and calmness that envelopes you while in their presence, and finally proving all my school teachers wrong when I received my first degree.

How do you want to be remembered?
I want people to remember me by the difference I make to their relationships with their pets and by the fact that I am a talented artist.

*** I have 4 more Zazzle shops listed on each of my store pages too! ***

Tell us something about you.  We Want to know the person behind the artist.
I live in a lovely suburb of Buffalo, New York with my wonderful husband Paul whom I've been married to for 3 1/2 years! We actually met through an online Catholic dating site. I love to try and capture just a small essence, of the beauty of God's creations, through my camera lens. I have worked with God's most "perfect" people - severely multiply handicapped children - for the past 27 years, and I love it (and them!)

Do you have any favorite quotes?
Two of my favorite "quotes" are actually prayers which are part of The Divine Mercy devotion (www.TheDivineMercy.org)

"Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself."

-and-

"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!"

Fondest memories?
Sigh...any memories of happy times with my (now in Heaven) dad and mom are very cherished. Also, memories of my nephew's smile and laughter. And memories of the "adventures" that I go on with my husband driving around the state enjoying nature and taking LOTS of pictures.

How would you like to be remembered?
I would love to just be remembered for always trying to be kind to others and for having an almost perpetual smile on my face and a giggle in my heart!

And now some of artist work

I'm a semi-retired civil servant and teach college part time. Whenever I can, I get out into nature, both for "therapy" and to take photos.

Do you have any favorite quotes?
We cannot always do great things in this world; only small things with great love. (Mother Teresa)

Fondest memories?
Summer trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC, seeing the sun rise over the hills of Costa Rica from a sailboat in the Pacific, and any time spent at sea.

What do you want people to remember about you?
That I always tried my best.

Artist Of The Day Emily Goodwin

Today's artist of the day is Emily Goodwin

Where can we find your art?

Tell us something about you. We want to know the person behind the artist.
I'm lucky enough at the moment to be able to split my time between the UK and the Greek island of Crete - Winters are spent in Crete with my Dad and our family of cats while the rest of the year I can be found in Wiltshire with my man - I'm not sure how long this will continue but for the moment I'm making the most of it!
I didn't "discover" photography until around 2005 when I bought my first digital camera. Before that I would just take the usual snapshots at Christmas and on Vacation. I've always been creative, and I've always been self-employed, I started off making cards and gifts which I sold at craft fairs and later online through my own website, through that I learnt how to design and maintain websites and did SEO work and web-design for small independant businesses. Now my focus is entirely on photography with hopes of getting a trade business off of the ground, getting my prints and cards into independant gift shops around the UK.

Do you have any favorite quotes?
Nope!

What are your favorite 3 memories, either as a child or as an adult.
There are so many "little ones" but nothing big that immediately spring to mind that I think your readers would be interested in... Sorry to be boring!

What do you want people to remember you by when you die?
A difficult question that I'd never thought about until now... Maybe Emele Photography will become a well known and loved brand name around the world!

Artist Of The Day: Olga Hutsul

Today's Artist of the day is Olga Hutsul

Where can we find your art?
my personal website:

Tell us something about you
I am a Toronto based photographer, digital artist, graphic designer, and more importantly, dreamer. Since for half a year Canada sinks into cold nonexistence, the only thing that is left to do is dream.
Sometimes those dreams become artworks, visions. designs, words...

Do you have any favorite quotes?
"I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."
(Albert Einstein)
How could he know me so well?

Fondest Memories?
They all are related to my travels:
Trip to Paris
Trip to Florence
Trip to Provence
On the second thought installation of Photoshop and purchase of my camera, are actually very close to the happiest moments
as they allow me to spend most of my days creating...

What do you want people to remember you by when you die?
People remember only bad things - then it is better if they remember nothing at all about me. What is there to remember? I do not remember what I did this morning...

Here are 3 example's of our artist work.  Enjoy

Artist Of The Day: M. M. Anderson

Today's artist of the day is M. M. Anderson

Where can we find your art?

Tell us something about yourself
I majored in art when I was in college back in the day but until recently I hadn't tried to earn money at it. My first attempts to sell images online were with stock image sites. I haven't had much luck there but I have learned a lot. Hopefully my Zazzle store will be more successful once the buyers discover it.

What are your favorites quotes?
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it." John 1:5
"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -George Santayana

Fondest memories?
One of my best memories is spending time with family growing up. We used to play games in the yard on summer evenings and that is a fond memory.
Another happy memory comes from traveling with family to Walt Disney World.

How would you like to be remember?
When I die I'd like to be remembered as someone who did her best. I may never be what one would call a success but I have tried to do my best at everything I do.

And here are some examples of our artist's of the day work. Enjoy.
